Song Details: | This tune first appeared at a Banjo Jazz show in the mid-1980's. Béla mentions that it was was inspired by the John McLaughlin band Shakti, hence the name.
This is one of the few Banjo Jazz songs that reemerged in the Flecktones era where it would be played a few times during the Trio years. The Flecktones recorded it in the Three Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest sessions but it ultimately didn't make the cut for that album. Instead it was released on the 1999 compilation album, Greatest Hits of the 20th Century. |
